Statictics solve problem

Statistics is the art of learning from data. It is concerned with the collection of data, its subsequent description, and its analysis, which often leads to the drawing of Conclusions.

Statistics is also is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation, and presentation of data. Statisticians improve the quality of data with the design of experiments and survey sampling. Statistics also provides tools for prediction and forecasting using data and statistical models. Statistics is applicable to a wide variety of academic disciplines, including natural and social sciences, government, and business.
Sometimes a statistical analysis begins with a given set of data: For instance, the government regularly collects and publicizes data concerning yearly precipitation totals, earthquake occurrences, the unemployment rate, the gross domestic product, and the rate of inflation. Statistics can be used to describe, summarize, and analyze this data.

Example of statistic question and answer:

1. A sample of eleven bags of sugar each marked 1 kg actually contained the following weights:

1.02 1.05 1.08 1.03 1.00
1.06 1.08 1.01 1.04 1.07 1.00

Compute:
a) The mean.

Answer:
Mean is average of data collection,
(1.02+ 1.05 + 1.08 + 1.03 + 1.00 + 1.06 + 1.08 + 1.01+ 1.04 + 1.07 + 1.00)/11 =1.04kg

Thus, mean = 1.04kg.
